THE TIN SOLDIER

South African choreographer, Kirsten Isenberg, has returned to East London to create the enchanting full length ballet of The Tin Soldier. Using artistic license, this happy version of the classic tale will be performed by the Joanna Wright School of Ballet with the role of the Tin Soldier being danced by guest dancer Farnel Smart from Cape Town.

Audiences will follow the story of the Tin Soldier in the children’s toy room, where he falls in live with the beautiful ballerina doll. However, he has to contend with the jealous Jack in the Box. After tragically falling out of the toy window, the Ballerina doll is bereft when she thinks he is gone forever – but he isn’t.

Audience members from young to old will enjoy following this journey through the water world to the little fishing village, where he is finally discovered and returned to the toy room with much celebration to follow.

Set to an exciting contemporary score, with exquisite costumes, the cast of over 160 dancers will transport the audiences through this well-loved tale.

This charming ballet, promises to be a treat for all ages.
