An aspiring nightclub singer, Deloris Van Cartier, has a desire to see her name up in lights.
However, being put into the witness protection program forces her to redirect her focus. Under the untrusting glare of Mother Superior, the only light that finds Deloris is through the stained glass windows of a convent, where she must pretend to be a nun for her own safety. Much to the astonishment of everyone, this unlikely situation might catapult her closer to her dreams of music and fame than ever imagined … though perhaps onto the mob’s radar.
