Matilda – The Musical
Merrifield College presents the internationally acclaimed Roald Dahl’s “Matilda – The Musical”.
“Matilda” is the story of a gifted little girl. To escape her terrible family-life, she reads books and tells fantastical stories. At school she strikes up a wonderful friendship with her teacher, Miss Honey, and together they endure the tyrannical and nasty headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, who believes that all children are maggots. Through Miss Honey, Matilda discovers that “just because you find that life’s not fair, it doesn’t mean that you just have to grin and bear it”. She learns her true strength and is able to stand up to the negative influences of the adults in her life.
The libretto was written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and original orchestrations and additional music by Chris Nightingale.
